ASPENDOS
Wikipedia:
Aspendos (in ancient Greek Ἄσπενδος) is an ancient Greco-Roman city in southern Asia Minor, located about 45 kilometers east of the present city of Antalya, Turkey. Aspendos is situated on a small plateau which dominates the valley with the Eurymedon river flowing at its foot. The presence of water and the defensive value of the site probably explains the initial choice of location by the first occupants.
It stands out for its Roman theatre, the best preserved in all of Asia Minor, in which shows are staged every summer. In antiquity, the theater of Aspendos could accommodate around 12,000 spectators.
Triple siphon aqueduct
Below the acropolis, an aqueduct brought water from the heights located a few kilometers to the northwest. It has three siphons, undoubtedly the best preserved of the whole Roman world with those of Lugdunum: its remains, flushing and leaking reservoir towers with rampant arcades, characteristic siphon bridges which supported parallel pipes laid at flat, can be followed over a length of more than a kilometer.
It is this aqueduct under which I slept, which interests me with its impressive volume and height, its shadow...the memory it represents...it has seen everything
